For some time we wanted to go for Barceloneta area to sample the restaurants, and making a meal with relatives my partner decided it was a good time to inquire from exaggerated amount to sample some local seafood that characterizes this area of \u200b\u200bBarcelona. Looking
options ( Suquet de l'Almirall , among others), we opted for Can Solé , following a recommendation from a great expert and tastes similar to ours (my dear sister), we suggested this little place in the heart of this old fishing district of the Catalan capital.
Once settled into our table, we decided we are going to take. The menu is quite extensive in terms of fish dishes. The meat has only two options, or look, because we had very clear that fish and rice would be the protagonists of the meal.
We chose a steamed cockles, some cod fritters sprockets (one of the recommendations and specialties of the house) and a squid to the Andalusian to top the task with a risotto with lobster for four.
As regards wine, after looking at the chart we realized that, as we are accustomed to 99.9% of the restorers, the prices are quite inflated. Despite that and knowing it was a special meal, I opted for one of the great white wines produced in Spain.
Lately I've been roaming the Rueda DO , tasting the exquisite 100% Verdejo these lands are cultivated by different wineries, but he understood that there were some gems of this type of varietal to which they applied some aging or fermentation barrel and bottle. He had tried Martivillí barrel fermented I found really interesting, but Can Solé had the opportunity to try one of the great, the Belondrade and Blanco 2006 Lurton. A single variety grown 100% Verdejo 11 months in barrels and 4 months in bottle. It was very expensive, 34 € (in storage can be had for € 24 at most), but it was the perfect companion for his food, besides being the best of all the food.
The choice of desserts was varied: a drunk, a bacon from heaven and a cream puff sticks. The three self-produced exquisite. Pastry should be commended with their ranks in the kitchen, because everything was really excellent.
Regarding the service, was correct in almost all the time. The exception was finishing the risotto. Three of the guests was over, but my partner was still eating, and started pulling camaremos dishes and iron pot where there was still something of seafood and rice. My partner that you love seafood and intended to end what was left in the pot were stunned as the rest, the speed of the waiters to remove the pot, not just ask, who gave no option of appeal or reply Algona.
So in conclusion, the quality of raw materials is noted. Everything is good and rich, but may not reach the excellence that we are at other sites with a slightly lower price. Perhaps it is the problem of Barcelona tour, where predatory pricing is imposed as a rule, such as coffee and nearly 3 € each (not to be Jamaica Blue Mountain !!!). is unlikely to return, if they continue with this ratio of price / Placer so opted for the Price.
